Kojo Wednesday 11/9/16

Let me preface this by saying that I am in NO way, shape, or form a "good picture taker..." But, it is part of my job description, so here goes nothing!
Aren't they adorable?!?!? This was taken in our "homeroom" on Wednesday morning before our field trip to Odaiba and Yokohama. I will (if I remember) take a picture of them tomorrow in their uniforms-before they give their self intro speech in front of the entire school- just so you can see the difference!!

This was taken at the Miraikan, or "Future Museum." That isn't a giant disco ball behind them, it is actually the Earth- weather patterns and all!

We got a chance to meet up with the Bunkyo group for a hot minute at the Miraikan and a mall at Odaiba. This is Gundam, a transformer-like robot that does cool stuff apparently. Not this actual one, but the cartoon/anime version...

So we lied, we actually just went to NYC. Kidding! For some reason, they have an SOL replica near the mall- it is about 1/50th the size... That is the Rainbow Bridge in the background- quite famous.

We then took our Kojo bus to the Cup O' Noodles museum in Yokohama. So cool! What you see in the picture above and below are your kids making their own cup noodle! Well, decorating the cup for now...

That is Takeda Sensei on the left, he is the coordinator on Kojo's end. As you can see, he is rocking his McMahon gear.

Toppings, yum! This is actually step #2, you get to pick 4 toppings/ingredients.

Ramen noodles go in first.

Then comes the lid and saran wrap- very important!

Again, you were warned about my picture taking skills.... This is where you pump the bag full of air so the Styrofoam container does not break.

Dekimashita! Our ramen cup is ready to go! But, we were warned not to eat it for a month...

The history of ramen- yes, this place is no joke... That is enough salt for 10 lifetimes!

The man himself, Mr. Momofuku Ando.

And finally, the Nippon Maru. She was apparently a training ship for the Japanese Navy, until retiring in Yokohama Harbor about 30 years ago- after 50 years at sea!
So, stay tuned, there will be much more to come- including individual blogs from the students themselves!
